As a senior leader in Civil Air Patrol, the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, Roman provides strategic leadership across public affairs, emergency services, and operational programs. He oversees communications strategy, brand management, media relations, and the development of volunteer communications professionals while supporting complex emergency services missions, incident management, and operational planning. With experience spanning incident command, aviation operations, sUAS programs, and crisis communications, he specializes in delivering accurate, timely information during high-tempo operations while ensuring communications efforts remain aligned with mission objectives.

Roman also serves in national leadership roles supporting Civil Air Patrol's partnership with NASA, leading public affairs efforts for nationwide citizen science initiatives involving thousands of volunteers across nearly every U.S. state and territory. His ability to bridge technical operations with compelling public storytelling has earned national recognition, including Civil Air Patrol's National Public Affairs Officer of the Year award.

Outside of his volunteer service, Roman's professional background spans aviation operations, labor relations, contract administration, and organizational compliance. His experience includes supporting large-scale airline operations at American Airlines and administering labor agreements for the Allied Pilots Association, where he combines operational expertise with strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and analytical problem-solving.

Beyond his professional career, Roman is committed to strengthening communities through volunteer service. Alongside his work with Civil Air Patrol, he actively supports the Scottish Rite, Shriners International, and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, reflecting a lifelong dedication to leadership, philanthropy, youth development, and public service.

    Scheduled and tracked flight crews across the American Airlines system to ensure every flight departed fully and legally staffed — balancing FAR 117 flight-time limitations, pilot union contract provisions, and company policy while optimizing for safety, reliability, and cost.

    • Ensured complete, regulation-compliant flight crews on every departure, including at non-crew-base stations.
    • Modified sequences and built new crew pairings to protect the schedule during irregular operations — weather, IROPS, charters, ferries, and equipment substitutions.
